Dogfight:Buzz the Tower

Privacy

Dogfight: Buzz the Tower is made by Duothink Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (SC886148). It is a party game for people aged 8 to 16 and up, and it is built so that we cannot identify you. This page says exactly what the app does and does not do.

No account, no name, no ads

There is no sign-up and no account. You never give us your name, email address, date of birth or location. There are no advertisements and nothing to buy in the app.

Your callsign

You choose a callsign (a short nickname) that other players in your game can see. It stays on your phone. Please don't use your real name — the app says so right where you type it — and the app and our game server check callsigns against a list of words that are not suitable for children. A new phone starts with a made-up callsign like PILOT-275, never the phone's own name.

Playing together

When you play with friends, your phone talks to a game server we run (hosted by Fly.io in London) or directly to other phones on the same Wi-Fi. A game is identified by a four-letter code. The server keeps only what it needs to run the game while it is running — the code, the callsigns in the room and the aeroplanes' positions — and forgets it when the game ends. Nothing is stored about who played.

Our game server keeps no names and no IP addresses in its logs. The logs that help us fix problems say what happened (a game was made, a player joined, a game ended) under the four-letter code, never who did it.

Anyone with the code can join or watch a game from a web browser at play.buzzthetower.app. Only share the code and the link with people you want in your game.

What we count

To see which games are played and where people get stuck, the app sends us a small number of counts, and nothing else:

These counts are sent with a random install number that the app made up when it was first installed. It is not tied to you, your phone's identity, or any advertising identifier; if you delete and reinstall the app it makes a new one, and we have no way to connect the two. In a web browser this number lives only for the page you have open and is not stored at all, so there are no cookies to accept.

We do not collect your IP address, your location, your contacts, or anything typed into the app. We use no analytics or crash-reporting companies: the counts go to a small service we run ourselves (hosted by Cloudflare) and only Duothink can read them. We delete these counts after 24 months.

Permissions the app asks for

Local network — to find friends' phones on the same Wi-Fi.

Camera (iPhone) — only if you tap SCAN CODE on the Join a Game screen, to read the QR code on a friend's screen. The picture is read on your phone, straight away, and is never saved, recorded or sent to us or to anybody else. If you say no, you can always type the four letters instead.

Those are the only two permissions the app asks for. It never uses Bluetooth, your microphone, photos, contacts or location.

Children

This game is made for children as well as adults, and it is designed with the UK Children's Code and COPPA in mind: it collects no personal information from anyone, so there is nothing to ask a parent's permission for. If you are a parent and have a question, please write to us.

Your choices

Because nothing we hold can be linked to you, there is nothing we can look up or delete for you — deleting the app removes the only copy of your callsign and your install number. If you still want to ask us something, contact us below.
